Subject: Overshoot and axis run away?
The power seems to be working fine but I am having some issues. Sometimes when I plug in the supply k-motion disconnects? I think it may be to protect it from current spike? When I reboot k-motion and recconnect the supply it works fine? Maybe I need to put a switch on the power supply to turn it on instead of just plugging it in? When I run programs on k-motion cnc at speeds higher then 200ipm(my counts per inch is 40960 for the setup) it seems to be overshooting the destination and having to backup to where it is supposed to be. Also at that speed when the program is done running the x axis will keep running and no longer be counting encoder counts in the axis screen. The only way to stop the motor is to disable the axis and re enable it? Lastly when I plug in the power the motors ping and that also happens when I turn off the k-motion board? Thanks
Jared

Hi Jared,

I suppose there is some current surge issue causing the disconnect.  Do you have the axes disabled when you plug in the supply?  That might be the difference.  After a KMotion re-boot everything will be disabled.  I doubt if using a switch vs plugging in the AC plug will make much difference.

Use the Step Reponse Screen to diagnose issues with the higher speed motions.  Setup a similar distance and speed move and plot Command, Position, Output vs Time to see exactly what is going on.  Post screens shots (I use alt-Print Screen, then paste into Paint, then save as a .png file) of your Step Response, Config, and Filter Screens and we can probably help determine what is happening.
